Midjourney

A generative image surface I use to explore visual directions, original concepts, and campaign or brand imagery beyond stock assets.

How it fits my stack

Why this tool is here

I use Midjourney for visual exploration, not as a replacement for design judgment. The useful result is a direction I can control and place in context, not the largest possible pile of generated options.

I am publishing this as field notes rather than inflating it into a definitive review. The experience label above says how far I have taken the tool; the decision below says the job I would give it today.

The decision

Where it earns—or loses—a place

Best fitConcept art, mood exploration, stylized campaign imagery, thumbnail directions, and visual references for a designed system.
Watch closelyConsistency, rights and disclosure context, embedded artifacts, unreadable text, and using generated imagery where documentary truth is implied.

Operating model

How I would use it

  1. 01Define the visual job
  2. 02Explore several directions
  3. 03Select and refine deliberately
  4. 04Move the result into a controlled layout

Review queue

What the full review still has to prove

  1. Does it produce a better result than the current tool on one defined, repeatable job?
  2. Can I reproduce the result with realistic inputs rather than a friendly demo?
  3. What breaks, how visible is the failure, and can another operator recover the work?
  4. Do the real limits, data path, and operating cost change the recommendation?
