Commercial research without fake affiliate claims

Finding a vendor program is not the same as joining it. The catalog needed to show commercial opportunity research without turning eligibility, outreach, or a public application page into a claimed partnership.

Who, how, and why

Written by Tom from project records, repository evidence, and the actual operating decision. AI may assist organization and drafting; the founder remains responsible for factual review, disclosure, and publication.

01 · What changed

The implementation move.

  1. 01Added statuses for active programs, eligibility-gated creator routes, partner-only programs, developer or testing access, closed programs, unverified terms, vendor outreach, no public program, and owned products.
  2. 02Surfaced commercial status in tool profiles, directory search, and machine-readable exports.
  3. 03Kept commission rates and portal-only terms out of public copy when the approved source must control them.
  4. 04Preserved the controlled Poppy destination behind one auditable route.

02 · Evidence

What supports the current claim.

  • Every tool record has exactly one commercial-research record.
  • Tests cover representative active, closed, and no-public-program cases.
  • The affiliate flag remains limited to the existing Poppy relationship rather than every discovered program.

03 · What I learned

The reusable lesson.

Lesson 01Affiliate research is useful editorial context, but it becomes deceptive when program availability is written as an active relationship.
Lesson 02The reader should be able to distinguish tool fit from publisher compensation before reaching a buying action.
Lesson 03A centralized outbound route is easier to audit, correct, disable, and disclose than vendor URLs scattered through articles.

04 · Security and control impact

How the authority or release boundary changed.

  • Commercial research and editorial conclusions remain separate data concerns.
  • Owned products receive an ownership disclosure rather than an affiliate label.
  • No ranking, score, urgency, or positive conclusion can be purchased.
Current limitationCommercial programs, terms, and availability change. A researched status still requires date-aware review before a reader relies on it.
Next decisionCarry the same relationship labels into founder project pages, build logs, sponsored material, and future Skool promotion.
