Left Out Scan by Top AI Tools For
A little help.
Your scans stay local.
Android 11 or later, a camera, and a device screen lock are required. No account or online setup is needed inside the app.
Make your first scan
- Set a device PIN, password, or pattern in Android Settings if you do not already use a screen lock.
- Open Left Out Scan, read the local-storage notice, and authenticate when prompted.
- Start a scan and allow camera access. Place the paper on a flat surface in good light, then photograph it.
- Check the outline on Align the page. Drag the corners to match the paper, then tap Use page to crop and straighten it.
- Review the result. Use Adjust corners to revise the crop, Rotate to change orientation, or Remove to discard a shot. Add up to 10 pages per document.
- Save the PDF to the encrypted vault. Open it from the vault to check every page.
Keep small text close enough to read. Captured pages are resized to a maximum long edge of 2,400 pixels. Corner detection and perspective correction run on your phone without a model download. The saved PDF contains page images; this version does not include OCR, searchable text, or imported documents.
Aligning a page
Use a flat sheet with visible edges against a contrasting background. Automatic detection can miss an edge, so check the outline before using the page. Find corners tries detection again; Full photo resets the outline to the whole image. Perspective correction straightens the selected quadrilateral but does not flatten a curved book page or repair blurry text.
Storage questions
Where is my PDF?
It is stored encrypted inside Left Out Scan’s private app storage. Open the app and unlock the vault to view it. It is not placed in Downloads, the gallery, Drive, or a public phone folder.
Can I email it or open it in another app?
This version does not have export, sharing, printing, or cloud integrations. It is intended for scans you want to keep and view inside the local vault on this phone.
Can you recover a deleted or lost scan?
No. There is no developer copy or recovery key. Deletion, clearing app data, uninstalling, device loss, or invalidating the device-bound key can permanently remove access. Do not uninstall or clear app data to troubleshoot a vault you still need.
Will my scans move to a new phone?
Left Out Scan excludes its data from Android backup and transfer. Its encryption key is bound to the original device. This version has no migration or restore feature.
Does encryption protect everything that can happen to a phone?
Encryption protects saved document content using the device’s authentication and key storage. A scan must be decrypted to display it while the vault is unlocked. Keep your device updated and your screen lock private. Left Out Scan does not promise protection from every form of device compromise.
If something is not working
- Camera access denied: open Android Settings, find Left Out Scan, and allow Camera under Permissions.
- Unable to unlock: verify that the phone still has its screen lock and use the Android authentication prompt. Support cannot bypass device authentication or replace a lost key.
- Wrong page outline: drag each corner onto the paper, tap Find corners to retry, or use Full photo. Improve the contrast between the page and the background when retaking a shot.
- Scan is hard to read: improve the lighting, hold the camera steady, and move closer before taking a new shot.
- Saving fails: check available device storage and retry with fewer pages. Keep the app open until saving finishes.
- Want manual updates: manage automatic app updates in Google Play or your installer. Left Out Scan does not download updates itself.
